Fixer Uppers

Known as the Aguereberry camp and located near the Eureka mine in Death Valley, this was home to a man called Pete Aguereberry. Pete built his home here (just outside the frame to the right) in 1907 and owned/worked in several mines in the area until his death in 1945. The two structures pictured here were built in the early 1940s and served as guesthouses.

To really show off the character of the buildings, we placed a couple of small low powered lights in each. Typically I prefer to not add any artificial light to my images, but in this case, I don't think it would have worked as well without them.

On to the sky, there is a lot going on, the galactic core of the Milky Way, strong red/green airglow (right) and the airglow mixed with light pollution from Vegas (left). In addition, there are 3 planets visible, Jupiter the bright large point to the upper right, while Mars and Saturn are almost directly in the center just above the sharper point of the hill.

If you're interested in whats what in the sky (or if I confused you horribly with my gibberish), I added an annotated version of this photo below.
